Hipster City

Today I change my compass bearing south and cross my first border on a motorcycle. The drive into the United States was long and hot. The border took 2 hours which pushed me into Seattle rush hour, after being stuck in exhaust fumes in the scorching heat for most of the day I was exhausted when I pulled into Seattle. I was fortunate enough have found a B&B close to the Seattle city center so I could walk everywhere I needed.

Seattle is a very interesting and open place, it truly is a place where you can be as strange as you wish and no one will judge. I can now understand why the west coast is the birthplace of the hipster scene. Strange tattoos, bright hair and piercings seem to be the norm in Seattle. In a way Seattle resembles a yearlong burning man event with a dash of suits and ties. The nightlife is great in Seattle, everyone I met was very friendly and all the bars were packed serving some of the best craft beer. During my time in Seattle I was intrigued by the dating scene. Many of the guys resembled the skinny nerdy type and the other half of the men were openly gay. A few girls I met from Florida who moved to Seattle were the first to bring this to my attention as they were complaining about being dateless for 2 years. Although they were very attractive the road was calling and I was on my way off to Portland…..Sorry Girls.

The city during the day is beautiful, it has some of the most fascinating art galleries and an amazing coast line view. The glass art gallery is one of the best art galleries I have ever been to, it’s not only an amazing display of beauty but engineering design as well. The EMP has an awesome Star Wars exhibit where I could met my inner geek run wild. Although Seattle was a fun city to visit I am happy to be pushing further south to see what other beauty rests ahead.
