Touching the Pacific

Today marked a rather momentous day as I can officially claim to have rode across Canada. The feeling of accomplishment turned to slight pain as the water was incredibly cold in the Pacific Ocean but it didn’t stop the smile on face as I jumped in. I decided to stay a few extra days in Vancouver since my parts being shipped to Oregon are currently on back order and there is so much to see in the city. Vancouver is the perfect mix of big city life and greenery. With Stanley Park and Granville island close by it’s easy to find beautiful walking trails and a cold pints. It may be the fact I am currently in vacation mode but I find the vibe in Vancouver to be more relaxed even in the business areas compared to the east coast. On any given weekday the beaches are filled with people playing volleyball and soccer and I noticed significantly less suits and ties along the Vancouver business areas.

The ride from Kelowna to Vancouver was incredible along highway 3. Even though I promised myself I would keep my mileage to a minimum I couldn’t resist the twisting mountain roads and landscape as I traversed the entire Okanagan valley. The weather during my stay in Vancouver has been incredible. I was told it’s always rainy and gloomy but I have seen nothing but sun with the occasional rain shower at night to cool off the air. Tomorrow I officially cross into the United States since I have never crossed a border on a motorcycle I am a bit nervous but I am excited to see Seattle.
